Job Summary

Reporting into the EMEA Cloud & Hosting Bid Team Lead, this role will manage professionally written proposals that clearly articulate the CenturyLink value proposition for cloud and hosting services.


The Bid Manager will assemble a bid team with the relevant service / product / business knowledge required to prepare a winning bid, whilst taking ownership of the end-to-end bid process. Responsibilities include introduction and implementation of all necessary bid procedures and processes. This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines. It will require strong people management skills in a dynamic sales environment.

Job Description

  • Deliver coherent, technically correct and successful bid and proposal submissions for cloud / hosting services.
  • Balance and prioritise multiple opportunities and manage overall delivery of information to customers in the specified timelines
  • Package and present information summaries on opportunities to upper management via approval boards and maintain overall status of all activities
  • Liaise with the other members of the Bid Team and the EMEA Cloud & Hosting Bid Team Lead on proposal content to ensure it is meeting requirements of CenturyLink responses.
  • Draft new content as and when required using a proposal management tool.
  • Lead and document Bid calls / meetings on an ongoing basis for the life cycle of the opportunity
  • Work with CenturyLink internal teams such as operations, engineering, pricing and legal to structure bid responses
  • Gain expert knowledge of who the Cloud & Hosting subject matter experts are within CenturyLink on a cross functional and company wide basis, so that the right combination of resources can be engaged to craft unique and winning bid responses
  • Work with key partners for areas of bids and solutions that CenturyLink cannot entirely support in-house.
  • Support the delivery of customer facing presentations as required.
  • Manage and validate the creation of key aspects of the bid, such as technical solution pricing, KPIs and bid budgets.
  • Regularly update CenturyLink knowledge management system and use this system as one of the first point of calls for answering all bid questions.
  • Use CenturyLink bid and sales management tools (e.g. Qvidian and to manage and update bid progress.



The Senior Proposal Manager should possess:

  • BSc or BA Degree in Business or Technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience in using the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven capability in delivering winning, multi-million-pound product or complex solution bids.
  • Experience of bid campaign management from opportunity identification through to project delivery.
  • Expertise in providing valuable input into opportunity qualification, win strategies, commercial discussions and solution delivery.
  • Must be comfortable working at all levels.
  • Have the ability to manage complex, multi-workstream opportunities.
  • Solid understanding and management of internal governance procedures.
  • Must be an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • APMP Foundation level
  • Experience of working with


  • Consulting / Project Management background or equivalent approach
  • Exposure to Sales / customer environments
  • Commercial acumen
  • Experience with Qvidian
  • APMP Practitioner or Professional level


Masters or Equivalent

Bachelors or Equivalent

Success Measurements

Success will be measured by achievement against the following goals:

  • % short-listing on all bids
  • Sales teams’ achievement of targets (wins)
  • Creation and maintenance of bid content / bid database
  • Bid activity reporting
  • 100% bids delivered on time and in correct format
  • Adherence and support of bid KPI’s to the sales team
  • Win / loss review with reporting and suggested changes
  • Bid delivery efficiencies
