Job Summary

The CenturyLink Global Infrastructure Capacity Planning Manager (GICP) is fully responsible and accountable for long-term capacity planning across regions for all aspects of the CenturyLink Hosting Infrastructure.  The GICP will be required to develop and manage processes for gathering Product/Sales forecasts, pipelines, Operational changes, historical trends, and developing methodologies for turning these inputs into CAPEX/OPEX requirements to meet demand.  This role will focus on the CenturyLink Storage Infrastructure, with some exposure to the CenturyLink Hosting Area Network (HAN), Backup, and Compute platforms.  The GICP will need to work with Capacity Management, Data Centre and Infrastructure Engineering, Operations, Finance and Product Management/Development personnel to ensure the Global Capacity Team is successful in meeting CenturyLink customer and business demand/requirement.

Job Description

  • Publish bi-annual capacity plan in-line with CenturyLink budget cycle that identifies infrastructure CAPEX/OPEX requirements to support demand.
  • Develop, document, and implement global methodology for capacity trending and modelling for applicable platforms.
  • Develop, document, and implement a process for converting revenue plan into platform specific requirements.
  • Develop requirements and drive automation for streamlining data gathering, reporting, modelling, and simulation.
  • Work with vendors such as HP, NetApp, Brocade, VMWare, Cisco, Juniper, etc.
  • Interact with Engineering and data centre organizations on latest technology development, deployment projects, and other major initiatives that affect data centre capacities
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Practical knowledge of industry standard IT environments (both physical and virtual) and underlying engineering/configuration practices.
  • Experience in Storage Technologies and Storage Networks.
  • Experience in data modelling, trending, and forecasting methods.
  • Command of Microsoft product suites, such as Microsoft Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in scripting (ex. PERL, Python, etc)
  • Strong leadership, management, and communication skills
  • Excellent documentation and strong written skills.






·         Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent

·         Five or more years of relevant work experience in an IT environment.
