Job Summary

Working as an Application / Migration Architect you'll be responsible for the strategic and detail planning involved in discover, analyze, design, build and execute for complex datacenter migrations.  With deep infrastructure and application knowledge you'll be a leader of a migration team including project managers, technical architects, and delivery engineers.  You will bridge the business and technical requirements of each migration to drive momentum at all stages

Job Description

Ideal applicants will have a wealth of infrastructure and general application, business support experience, ideally working for a consultancy or solution provider with experiences of most of the following -

  • Migration planning and execution of complex application estates - physical and virtual
  • Enterprise scale datacenter architecture
  • Datacenter equipment relocation
  • Migration strategy and execution
  • Technical enterprise solution design
  • Senior stakeholder management & project reporting
  • Provide work-day management of multiple data-center migration related projects, including off-hour migration events
  • Participate in project plan construction, tracking and reporting
  • Monitor and report on multiple, concurrent migration project statuses
  • Manage the efficient movement of application/server/storage/network etc. migrations through the detailed migration cutover plans
  • Accountable for one or more large, diverse and complex projects in the areas of datacenter migrations
  • Manage all aspects of projects with direct accountability to the executive sponsor
  • Manage client expectations from initial problem identification and through the project lifecycle
  • Coordinate and manage among multiple, multi-functional collaborative project and/or work teams
  • Coordinate the activities of multi-functional teams, as well as the project task dependencies and schedule
  • Scope, risk and issue management, including documenting, communicating and facilitating resolutions or mitigation plans
  • Initiate and manage a communication plan, including regular project status reports
  • Deliver appropriate integration, training and implementation plans and activities
  • Manage stakeholders and multiple project teams in the context of a single project
  • Maintain all project artifacts
  • Identify, deliver and document organizational, application and human workflows that contribute to policy and procedure updates throughout each project

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required
  • Education and experience with Project Management methodology based on Project Management principles desired
  • Eight years of experience leading large, diverse and often complex projects is required
  • Experience managing projects with multiple project teams, product development lifecycle, or quality lifecycle
  • Experience making formal and informal presentations to senior and executive management and key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated management skills and the ability to work effectively to build relationships with executive management, department managers and project managers
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems and conflicts
  • Demonstrated understanding of customer business needs in support of data-center program objectives
  • Ability to translate conceptual thinking into project definitions and requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, prioritize work, manage time and respond effectively to a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to exercise sound political and environmental judgment as appropriate to support successful project implementation
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in assessing and mitigating risks through risk planning, recording, practice management and financial management
  • Suggest opportunities to improve data-center migration processes and increase program efficiency by identifying and executing data-center migration optimization opportunities
  • Planning, designing, and executing data-center expansion, consolidations, relocations, and migrations and documenting data-center changes including project plans, architectural plans, CMDB usage and various enterprise class project tracking and reporting tools

Education

Bachelors or Equivalent in Information Systems or Information Systems

Masters or Equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
