Job Summary

Serve as architecture lead on major projects with the ability and expertise to develop overall architectural direction. Initiate and execute advanced research and development activities of importance to the future of the company with minimal supervision and review.

Job Description

  • Identify, model, and plan network solutions to meet diverse and complex business opportunities. Serve as technical consultant to management.
  • Provide advanced technical leadership in research, design, analysis and problem solving efforts to a special design team, technical review team or problem resolution team. Work independently and with considerable latitude in defining and pursuing special advanced engineering projects.
  • Define technical documentation standards for the team(s) to adhere to
  • Provide the team with design mentorship (and other groups inside operations)
  • Lead the technical effort for pilot work in our next endeavor of Dedicated Infrastructure
  • Bridge and close the gap in understanding design and application between the product and operations aspect(s) for Dedicated Infrastructure in a technical manner
  • Collaborate their experience for best practices and standards which need to be spread down to others to help our success
  • Provide quarterly (or respectful interval) trainings to team and other teams on standards and designs in-progress or being rolled out

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and relevant experience
  • 12 + years related experience
  • Previous security support experience in enterprise, IT or service provider environment   
  • Experience diagnosing complex issues through packet capture analysis (Wireshark, tcpdump, snoop, Sniffer Pro)   
  • Hands on experience including but not limited to:   
    • Virtual and physical security technologies (ie. Palo Alto Firewall, Cisco ASA/FWSM, IP tables, ACL etc.)   
    • Network and Systems technologies   
      • Network LAN and WAN (STP, Cisco Flexlink, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, QOS)     
      • Microsoft or Unix server OS   
      • Server Loadbalancer configurations and support   
      • Common web server applications (IIS, .net, Tomcat, etc)   
    • Network and Systems hardware platforms    
      • Cisco routers and switches
      • Juniper routers and switches   
      • Server Loadbalancers (F5, Cisco ACE, Inkra)   
    • Designing, Configuring, and supporting network or systems devices (routers, switches, servers)   
  • A commitment to delivering a superior customer experience through direct interaction with customers during support and change management   
  • Ability to quickly adapt to advancing technologies and procedural changes   
  • Proven incident and problem solving (troubleshooting) skills with an emphasis on a timely resolution   
  • Ability to translate customers' requirements into technical solutions 
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with other technologists and business partners to maintain high service levels in a demanding environment   
  • Ability to work well in team environment    
  • Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills
