Job Summary

Reports to:                  Director Security Services – Asia Pacific

Position Objectives / Summary: 

The Security Account Manager (SAM) role is accountable for providing high-quality security consulting services to CenturyLink customers. SAM will have responsibility to learn and perform the full range of security services offered by the CenturyLink security practice. The position objective is to successfully deliver Security consulting, advisory and SAM services to CenturyLink customers in APAC region.

Job Description


  • For a large enterprise, evaluate vulnerability management programs, methodology, associated scanning tools and their configurations to determine:
    • Adequate resource levels
    • Proper credentials
    • Tool access to target endpoints
    • Proper scanning profile and scope/depth based on target type
    • Tool performance optimization
    • Correct role/responsibility assignments within client staff
    • Client staff capability/suitability for assigned roles
    • Review scope/coverage/currency for the technical components of the client infrastructure, to include automated scanning and pen testing tools, code review and management tools, content integrity monitoring, and log aggregation.
  • Provide gap analysis on the above.
  • Oversee remediation of identified gaps/areas for improvement.
  • Provide ongoing advice to client executive leadership regarding the client’s vulnerability management program in particular, and their overall IT Security program in general.
  • Provide recommendations to client executive leadership on ways to improve their security posture, security policy, regulatory compliance with regards to Information Security Standards.
  • Review, advice and document security operations changes requested by the customer and provide direction or guidance for the implementation of associated changes;
  • Grow security consulting and managed security services with the client.
  • Coordinate the activities of multiple assigned and shared CenturyLink IT security resources
  • Work with clients, where appropriate, to conduct table top exercises and real-world drills for security incident response. Test their response plans.
  • Work with CenturyLink client management teams to coordinate and prioritize CenturyLink work and resources in support of the client.


General Requirements:

  • At least 7+ years of experience as an information security professional
  • Experienced with and strong analysis skills to perform network and system vulnerability assessments, identifying and prioritizing security issues, and documenting findings and recommendations;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to present to a variety of external audiences, including being able to interact with senior executives;
  • Excellent critical thinking and analysis skills in an enterprise environment;
  • Strong customer focus and quality mindset;
  • Significant experience in overall security program management and design for large enterprises
  • Significant experience in administering scanning/penetration testing/vulnerability management tools.
  • Significant experience in evaluating IT security personnel in job performance and skill suitability
  • Good fundamental knowledge of networking technology, IP addressing/routing, DNS.
  • Good fundamental knowledge of common operating systems, web servers, database servers, and J2EE middleware.
  • Good fundamental knowledge of IT security controls and IT security hardware/platform types.
  • Knowledge of data center, cloud based environments, or Security Operations Center (SOC).
  • Have relevant industry IT security certifications (CISSP or comparable, + one other)
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements and develop solutions to meet these requirements
  • Ability to work closely with C Level executives in large enterprises
  • Detail and process-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner and demonstrate initiative
  • Ability to prioritize tasks while working on multiple service offerings in parallel
  • Commitment to excellence and willingness to do what is necessary to get the job done
  • Ability to travel in support of meetings, presentations, conferences, and similar events
  • Occasional travel in support of meetings, client presentations, conferences, etc.


Preferred Background:

  • Significant experience gathering detailed requirements necessary to evaluate a client’s vulnerability management program.
  • Significant experience evaluating existing scanning and testing tools, methodology, and associated policies, processes, procedures, standards, guidelines; comparing to best practices; drafting gap analysis; presenting findings; guiding remediation.
  • Experience educating clients in IT Risk management, vulnerability program management, and associated policy and process optimization.
  • Insights - Work with practice leads, sales and sales support, and business teams to convey and customer feedback as input to security productized services.
  • Provide qualification and solution development efforts during client pursuits for the Consulting Security practice.
  • Provides domain leadership across various Security technologies and service offerings.
  • Demonstrate technical and advisory leadership for customers, sales, and other consultants in the areas of the person’s expertise.
  • Maintain a technical skill set that that matches the evolving security and compliance requirements of CenturyLink customers and corresponding security services.


Bachelors or Equivalent in Computer Science
