Job Summary

 

The Investment Portfolio Manager is responsible for optimizing Consumer Investments to: (1) Improve revenue trajectory while driving margins higher, (2) Defend market share and penetration against MSO upgrades and municipal overbuilds; (3) Expand fiber infrastructure, (4) Improve experience for customers, and (5) Leverage capital already spent in prior year(s) to complete a reasonably sized FTTP build.

Job Description

 

  • Responsible for overall strategic planning for new consumer investments across various planning horizons and for both strategic and non-conforming builds:
    • Analyzing market level segmentation, micro and macroeconomic drivers, competitive conditions and other key drivers and the associated coordination of this input into the Consumer Finance evaluation tools
    • Iterate with Finance, Product and BI on model outputs and assist with the packaging of investment requests for submission
  • Coordinate the cross-functional development of the playbooks for each approved investment:
    • Convene all stakeholders including planning, engineering, construction, Public Policy / PR, Marketing, Sales, Product, Finance
    • Assemble and publish playbooks that detail the ownership, timelines and success metrics and hand off for execution
  • Communicate success metrics and overall investment progress:
    • Conduct regular calls to update progress, log issues and identify gaps
    • Distribute regular communication on results, business case metrics and other insights
  • Share best practices and other learnings to drive consistent and efficient execution across all portfolios
  • This position may also collaborate internally with stakeholders to coordinate RFP/RFI response to state, city, county BB grant and expansion programs and identify and target pro-active programs that advance and accelerate profitable broadband deployment including rural investment programs including CAFII, State Broadband Grant programs and other government-sponsored funding sources
  • Builds and maintains a funnel of new expansion opportunities across a regional territory
  • Develop integrated program plans that accounts for multiple project deliverables, and proactively identify critical impediments to meeting project objectives
  • Conduct regular team meetings to enhance teamwork and communicate process and procedure updates
  • Coordinate projects and programs across multiple business groups to ensure timely delivery of objectives
  • Understand, evaluate, and balance CenturyLink’s ability to deliver new products, services and technologies within budgetary and scheduling guidelines
  • Effectively communicate program status, risks and issues to leadership, and present options and recommendations for resolution
  • Manage customer communications on behalf of senior leadership
  • Ensures the successful hand-offs at project completion while maintaining external communication on an on-going basis

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Business, Communications, or similar) or equivalent work experience
  • M.B.A Preferred
  • Thorough understanding of residential broadband, voice and video service solutions
  • Five to seven years advanced project management experience
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to identify trends, assess knowledge gaps and communicate recommendations for improvement to a leadership audience
  • Strength in creating and delivering consulting-level project plans and presentations
  • Action-oriented and creative thinker who can focus on detailed implementation and execution
  • Outstanding organization and time management skills; a proven ability to manage multiple initiatives independently in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to effectively operate within diverse and cross-functional groups
  • Ability to travel when needed
