Job Summary

Manage the proposal process for strategic and complex commercial opportunities for telecommunication solutions and ensure the delivery of high quality, compliant on-time proposals. The Sr. Bid Manager is accountable for the three primary phases of the business capture process: the capture phase, the proposal development phase, and the proposal production phase.

Job Description

Proposal Win Strategy: Facilitate a winning strategy for the proposal; working with the Sales Lead and internal Subject Matter Experts to define messaging and customer relevant themes by analysing customer requirements, competitive positioning and CenturyLink capability.


Proposal Project Administration: Provide the logistical support for meetings and reviews; schedule, coordinate, and organise team required for specific proposal, review and edit content for consistency in style, word usage, grammar, spelling, format, etc; assemble and integrate edits as required.


RFP Content Management: Researches relevant collateral documentation and works with internal Subject Matter Experts to create new materials for proposals and proposes content for company use. Use of storyboarding techniques to create powerful content.


RFP analysis: develops a detailed proposal plan as outlined in the RFP, identifies resources required to support proposal development, manages kick-off and ongoing team meetings, pulls data from database, contributes text where necessary for the executive summary and management sections of the proposal, and prepares formal and informal proposal review meetings.


RFP Responses: Responsible for RFP Submission per the stated timeline; including review of pre-RFP documentation, preparation of responses, and establishment of a high level proposal management plan – a summarisation of the outlined steps, timelines, and data required per the RFP document.


Proposal Project Management: Responsible for the coordination of all involved resources to gather the necessary data, in the requested format, required for a timely and complete delivery of a quality, winning proposal to the end customer. Manages and coaches the virtual team members to ensure the minimum acceptable quality and above level inputs, escalation as required.


RFP Approval: Ensure proposal is appropriately signed on and off through the governance process. Share risks and mitigations with senior stakeholders and obtain operational and delivery approval for non-standard customer requirements.


Coaching and Mentoring: Mentor to junior members of the team, sharing best practice processes and advice based upon previous experience. Considered as an advisor to senior sales with respect to current state and future advancement of the opportunity. Promotes and moderates the virtual team and resolves conflicts.


Undertake activities which support and improve Commercial Operations and Bid Management processes, for example learning reviews, customer feedback, collateral development etc.


Track Record in managing winning bids


Ability to work to tight deadlines and resilient under pressure and in the face of unexpected changes to plan.


Ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of technical and non-technical subject matter experts


Advanced verbal communication skills with ability to build relationships with team members and senior stakeholders.


Must be able to drive responses and influence virtual team.


Advanced knowledge of grammar with strong writing skills.


Document and presentation formatting and production capability (advanced MS Office Suite skills).


Distinctive project management skills, Prince2 or similar


Shipley training or APMP certified


Degree level qualification


Experience and knowledge of Telecommunications solutions and processes an advantage
