Job Summary

Responsible for the overall management and administration of the monthly close, preparation of "PBCs" for external auditor, long-range depreciation and amortization forecasts, PP&E net book value calculations, annual asset life study and annual depreciation rate updates.  This position also ensures compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal control requirements by developing, maintaining and testing documentation and processes around the accounting activities and controls.  This position is being created to backfill a position vacated due to a retirement.

Job Description

General Responsibilities:

  • Prepare annual asset life study incorporating industry forecast, company comparisons and company specific trends.
  • Establish appropriate depreciation rates for assets depreciated under the group asset method.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of accumulated depreciation and amortization and accumulated depreciation and amortization rollforwards.
  • Develop quarterly depreciation and amortization expense forecast for long range plan.
  • Consult, develop analysis and interact with internal and external auditors, finance organization, cost studies group, property tax group, network planning and engineering, industry experts, legal team and risk management.
  • Plan, schedule and implement depreciation related projects.
  • Support property tax data request and reports.
  • Perform net book calculation for the transfer and sale of assets.
  • Perform monthly/quarterly reconciliation and close processes
  • 2-5 years of fixed asset accounting and financial reporting experience
  • 2-5 years of experience working with large public company ($1B+ in revenue) or public accounting firm
  • Bachelors or Masters in Accounting
  • Must have the ability to interact with C-level executives, operations and external auditors
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • CPA license preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
