Job Summary


The Senior Engineer ISP performs applied research, development, and design of Synchronous Optical Network (SONET), Ethernet, Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM), power and timing systems.

Job Description


  • Evaluate equipment and associated network performance, and recommend network improvements and design changes
  • Handle moderately complex engineering assignments.
  • Work closely with the Government and suppliers on requirements, design, and proposal development
  • Perform project technology studies, budget estimates, and develop project schedules
  • Provide functional guidance, supervision, technical support, training, and quality assurance/control as required
  • Performs augmentation to Cisco Transport Planner design tools
  • Perform site surveys, attending meetings
  • Assists with the installation team when necessary
  • Develop Operational Scheduling Panel Requests (OSPRs)
  • Produces Engineering Design Packages (EDP)
  • Creates, updates, and reviews technical documentation


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, a related field or equivalent experience
  • At least five years applicable engineering design an implementation experience
  • Experience with SONET equipment and networks troubleshooting required
  • Experience with wavelength division multiplexing helpful



  • Knowledge of optical dispersion and experience with dispersion testing helpful
  • Knowledge of Cisco MSTP, MSPP and MSSP equipment desirable
  • CCNA Desirable


Security Requirements:

  • US Citizenship required
  • Active TS/SCI with Poly
  • Must maintain eligibility requirements for access to classified information (applicants selected will be subject to a government security re-investigation)


Other Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license have a clean driving record
  • Some local travel required
