Job Summary

Responsible primarily for back-office activities in support of developing and implementing technical solutions for customers. Will perform the sales engineering duties that require a basic level of technical or customer knowledge.

Job Description

Essential Duties:

  • Pre-Sales: Supports developing technical solutions and quotes for customers which includes preparing, issuing, and project managing requests to planning the field for capacity verification and estimating. Utilizes internal processes and systems for mapping, capacity check, and service availability. Contacts customer for confirmation/clarification of routine technical details. Project manages orders through the planning and estimating process to ensure timely responses back to the customer.
  • Service Activation: Responds to detailed inquiries from the service activation group to ensure proper order configuration and delivery to customer.
  • Order Configuration Support: Gathers routine technical details required for order entry and provides these to the account team/Order Entry. Contacts customer for confirmation/clarification of routine technical details. Engages Account SE for more complex issues.
  • Process Improvement: Utilizes growing expertise developed in executing the above duties to help streamline and improve Sales and SE processes. Responsible for regularly recommending improvements to management team. Outlines changes needed to the process, products, and pricing based on the requirements.

Knowledge, Skills or Abilities:

  • Communication: Intermediate written and verbal communication skills. Must have the ability to build relationships over the phone. Must have a proactive communication style ensuring timely status of projects to account team and customer. Must be able to develop relationships and communicate with customer technical staff.
  • Technical Skills: Basic working understanding of voice/data/internet applications, communications technology, and network design. Basic understanding of technical terminology related to company products and services. Requires general knowledge of voice and data communications equipment. Basic understanding of sales cycles and the solution selling process, preferably at multiple levels, i.e., Internet and Enterprise. Basic level presentation skills.
  • Problem Solving: Intermediate analytical skills. Must be able to work through complex issues with a methodical approach.
  • Work Style: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Must be detail oriented.
  • Computer Skills: Intermediate MS Office Suite knowledge and usage. Ability to learn internal company systems, such as Siebel, Granite, and Network Engineer.
  • Business Acumen: Must have a basic understanding of company financial measures. Must have a basic understanding of telecommunications industry and sales cycles.
  • Ability to travel as needed (Approx. 10%).
  • Security Clearance may be required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum skills required to perform in this role.

Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Experience:  <2 years of industry experience.
  • Education Level:  Bachelor's Degree
  • Field of Study:  Engineering, Technical or similar
  • Attention to detail with good organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize with good time management skills.
Bachelors or Equivalent in Engineering General or Other
