Job Summary

In support of the Enterprise Machine Learning Analytics and Persistent Services (eMAPS) US Government Program, the Engineer II position will support multiple global large scale (approximately 100,000 users spread over 45 main sites and 200 remote sites) networks.  These sites are interconnected with both terrestrial and non-terrestrial links, providing a fully meshed, fault tolerant, high-speed, secure communications infrastructure. Terrestrial links are a combination of commercial leased circuits, government-owned circuits, leased fiber optics, and government-owned fiber optics.

Job Description

·       Evaluate equipment and associated network performance, and recommend network improvements and design changes

·       Identify root cause for errors and network outages

·       Analyze trend data to identify recurring issues and provide corrective actions

·       Handle moderately complex engineering assignments

·       Work closely with the Government and suppliers on requirements, design, and proposal development

·       Perform project technology studies, budget estimates, and develop project schedules

·       Provide functional guidance, supervision, technical support, training, and quality assurance/control as required

·       Assists installation team when necessary

·       Creates, updates, and reviews technical documentation

·       Vendor management and integrating vendor support into technical and process functions of the engineering

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

·       Knowledge of large scale wide area networks supporting SONET, DWDM,  Ethernet, MPLS, SDN, NFV, meshed networks

·       Knowledge of routers, network switches, ancillary equipment

·       Emerging telecommunication technologies

·       Network architectures

Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, a related field or equivalent experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

·       CLEARANCE: Current TS/SCI eligibility at time of application; Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) or Single Scope Background Investigation Periodic Review (SSBI-PR) within the last five years that was favorably adjudicated

·       Have no break, greater than 24 months, in military service, Federal civilian employment, or access to classified information under the Industrial Security Program

·       TRAVEL: Some local travel will be required; ~5% CONUS travel

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

At least five years applicable engineering design, implementation, operation and maintenance experience

Experience resolving network failures

Education

Bachelors or Equivalent in Engineering General
