Job Overview:

 

The Senior Security Representative (SSR) reports directly to the Manager – Physical Security. This is a management position with a high degree of responsibility and strategic impact on the business function. The SSR is responsible for managing the 24x7 Physical Security Operations Center supporting all global data centers on a regional basis. The SSR, in conjunction with peers in other regions, is responsible for the overall development, implementation and ongoing management of the Data Center Physical Security Program which includes security policy and procedure, vendor management and oversight of contracted security services, security maintenance services within the region, implementation of physical security training, testing, and certification programs, operational and capital  budget expense management, data center access policy and systems administration and surveillance policy and systems administration within regional mission critical data center facilities.

 

The SSR is responsible for the overall function of the Corporate Security Operations Center (CSOC) with oversight of a contracted security specialist staff supporting all local data center central security operations who serve as the primary interface with all clients. The SSR is responsible for ensuring all internal client needs and expectations are met with high quality, industry standard programs and services and maintaining the overall physical security of the data centers. The SSR ensures all site security assets are operational and serviced, performs Security investigations, and manages asset fault escalations and outages. This position is also responsible for managing security vendors, maintenance contracts and the security Access Control System, CCTV, as well as other security systems, developing and attaining operational and capital budgets, and developing, implementing and maintaining uniform security policies and procedures. The SSR serves as the security liaison with external industry resources (e.g. law enforcement, military, emergency responders, industry peers & associations)

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage security operations personnel responsible for monitoring and managing the physical security of data centers
  • Manage the Corporate Security Operations Center (CSOC)  business function
  • Develop, Implement and Maintain uniform Security Policies & Procedures
  • Implement and maintain security training, testing, certification & recertification programs
  • Develop and attain Operations and Capital budgets
  • Manage the regional emergency/incident response and regional crisis management programs; act as incident commander for crisis and emergency incidents
  • Conduct confidential security investigations as required (Security & Safety related) with internal and external (i.e. customers, Law Enforcement, etc.) organizations
  • Manage the use, accuracy, health and administration of the security Access Control System (ACS), CCTV and other security support systems
  • Investigate and resolve access issue escalations
  • Manage the installation, maintenance and repair of the security assets within Cyxtera data centers to ensure continuous operation and physical security of the Cyxtera data centers.
  • Manage Security Vendor relationships and maintenance contracts to ensure that vendors and contractors are delivering quality services, and to make sure that all Company requirements are being met.
  • Maintain audit compliance (SAS 70, SOX, PCI) and response to auditor requests
  • Develop post orders and methods and procedures
  • Issue Purchase Orders and process vendor invoices
  • Develop/Maintain KPI metrics for Security Operations in support of the inter-departmental OLAs and quality assurance program
  • Manage a secure metal ley program       
  • Be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week   
  • Various other duties as assigned.

 

Required skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years Data Center Security management or equivalent experience
  • Effective independent problem solving and analysis skills including basic troubleshooting skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; able to communicate clearly with all levels of management on business matters
  • Excellent customer service skills combined with an appropriate sense of urgency
  • Superior interpersonal skills with employees, customers and external parties and the ability to provide leadership and oversight to in a team-oriented operational culture.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make decisions with minimal supervision especially in emergency situations within a 24/7 environment
  • Demonstrated ability to create and implement simple, replicable and effective protocols in all related areas of operating processes including, but not limited to, those related to hiring/training, security, maintenance, monitoring, reporting and work flow management.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards governing Security process and best practices
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
  • Experience in  data center security industry assets, build standards and best practices
  • Experience in  electronic Access Control Systems
  • Experience in CCTV and Video surveillance systems
  • Experience with visitor management systems
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, Excel, SharePoint and Windows Operating systems

 

Desired skills: 

  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • In-depth understanding of Company business model and security requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and SharePoint
  • Proficiency electronic Access Control Systems
  • Proficiency in CCTV and Video Archiving systems
  • Experience in enterprise systems:  Visitor Management, Lenel, Avigilon & Vantive
  • Experience in SAS70, SOX and PCI auditing and compliance.

 

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
