Job Summary

CenturyLink’s internship program is a 10 week, fast-paced and exciting opportunity to gain professional experience within your field of study. Interns within the Information Security department will be challenged to apply their knowledge gained in the classroom to real world problems. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience working on Innovation Initiatives for a Fortune 200 company. This position will allow students to utilize their talents and abilities to contribute to active projects at CenturyLink.  Interns within the Information Security will collaborate with the other Information Security Auditors to determine the priorities for the day pertaining to each compliance area, such as gathering/packaging evidence, performing testing, communicating with business process owners, and interacting with external audit firm personnel.

Job Description

• Information Security intern will assist with the Sarbanes-Oxley compliance program, which includes testing/validation of end-user access controls at the Operating System, Database, and Application layers

• Augment the Third-Party Vendor Risk Assessment Program

• Will learn and execute a variety of compliance audit controls to ensure compliance with Information Security Policy, industry standards, and various compliance standards such as Sarbanes-Oxley, SSAE 18, PCI, ISO 27001, and HIPAA.


Preferred Qualifications:
• Background in IT, information security, or IT audit
• Ability to monitor, test, and coordinate audit and compliance activities related to one or more specific compliance programs/standards

Minimum Requirements:

• Classification: Junior, Senior, or Master’s status by start of internship

• Pursing a Bachelor's and Master’s in IT or Information Security

• Currently enrolled at a 4-year accredited College or University (post-graduation internships not offered)

• 3.0 or above cumulative GPA

• available to participate in internship program late May through early August

• available to relocate to Denver, CO

• Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills

• Strong problem-solving skills

• Strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines

• Highly motivated, organized, reliable and detail oriented

• Capable of multi-tasking efficiently

• Quick learner and not afraid to work with new technology

• Professional attitude
