Job Summary

The CenturyLink Threat Research team is looking for an experienced security analyst to identify, track, and summarize emerging threats on the internet.   We need your skills to help research, understand, and identify emerging threats that are at the forefront of today’s cybersecurity current events.


We are searching for a Lead Security Engineer that has broad knowledge of threats, and a desire to learn even more.  You will help us stay on top of emerging problems and track the world’s botnets that pose a threat to the internet and our customers.  If you have a passion for making the internet a safer place, and a love of working with cutting edge technologies, this is the job you have been looking for.   Ideally, candidates will be based in the Denver Metro area, but remote locations in the U.S. are available for the right candidates.



  • An understanding of complex attack methods
  • An ability to forensically analyze an attack
  • Experience using OSINT methods for investigation
  • An ability to understand malware’s behavior
  • Network and application protocol knowledge
  • Knowledge of application security methodologies
  • Strong knowledge of systems architecture as it relates to cybersecurity topics
  • An ability to automate investigation through light-weight software development
  • Understanding of static or dynamic analysis of malware
  • Strong communication skills and experience writing technical reports


Highly qualified candidates may also have:

  • Experience with cryptographic theory and application
  • Familiarity with extracting data through SQL
  • Experience using statistical analysis methods
  • Development knowledge with Python, Java or Scala
  • Experience with Kibana, Elasticsearch, or Spark
  • Understanding of WAN networks and routing protocols
  • Experience penetration testing or participating in CTF contests
