Job Summary

The SR Lead Architect will assume a leadership role withing the Internet Architecture team.  The role will consist of defining the vision and strategy for the best connected Internet network globally and duties will include hardware selection, strategic documentation, working with the CenturyLink product team to create and define new services, and communciation of this strategy throughout the entire organization. The ideal Sr Lead Architect will be a great motivator who can thrive in a fast-changing environment, with consistent drive to find ways to improve architecture, technology, share his or her expertise and inspire fellow employees.

Job Description

  • Lead, define and manage initiatives and projects to develop new Internet architecture models (e.g. Strategic Roadmaps, Technology Strategies & Roadmaps, architecture positions, and end-to-end system requirements)
  • Lead and manage the innovation pipeline and technology processes toward forward-looking strategies in support of the business strategy
  • Define, assess and evaluate alternative solutions to ensure alignment with target architectures and industry standards evolution
  • Ensure alignment of projects with agreed Strategic Roadmaps and Target Architectures
  • Review of solution architectures against compliance with both existing and emerging industry standards
  • Evaluate the strategic contribution of projects and alignment with overall strategies and architectures
  • Participate in industry standards forums and processes


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and relevant experience
  • 12 + years related experience
  • Core IP Routing and Switching Protocols: IPv4/6, BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, HSRP, Segment Routing, VRRP, MPLS, VPLS, GLBP including Multicast: IGMP v2, v3, PIM SM, SSM
  • Advanced IP networking and systems building, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
  • SDN/NFV Controllers and SD-WAN (Software Defined Network/WAN).
  • Policing and Traffic Shaping of IP networks (QoS)
  • Layer 2- Layer 7 Protocols/Applications Analysis and Testing
  • Proficient with Servers, Routers, Switches, Load Balancers, WAN optimization, Firewall and Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) Configurations
  • Systems, Network Architecture, Design, Testing, Implementation, and Operations
  • AAA Security Protocols: RADIUS, TACACS. IPSec, IEEE 802.1X Client Authentication
  • Expert in Scalable & Redundant Network Storage Files Systems: CEPH, S3, GPFS and GlusterFS a plus
  • Thorough understanding of Standards based documents and proposals: IEEE, ITU-T, ISO, DASHIF, and Internet Standards: W3C and IETF RFCs
