Job Summary

Responsible for the preparation and execution of customer network optimisation activity across Centurylink and peer networks.

Network performance analysis and reporting, Layer 2 customer support for trouble tickets.

Provide and assist with Incident, Change and Problem Management adhering an ITIL based framework.

The role requires shift-pattern working of 5 working days (9 hours) in a week, followed by 4 working nights (8.75 hours) to complete out of hours migrations.  The start time of such activities will fluctuate depending on customer, vendor and field resource availability.

Job Description

Prepare, track and migrate live customer services under a controlled change window with regular requirement for out of hours work.

Communicate consistently with stakeholders to manage dependencies, using all available communication methods to receive or provide clarity, and ensure provision of clear updates to relevant tracking systems

Design and Test solutions across DWDM, SDH, SONET and MPLS networks.

Update provisioning system records and tracking databases, ensuring high degree of accuracy, within specified timelines.

Work moderate to complex projects with cross-functional teams and with limited guidance.

Seek or provide guidance as necessary to gain support and develop cross-functional expertise.

Stakeholder engagement (internal and external) aimed at risk mitigation and complex problem resolution.

Coach team members, provide training at regular intervals on current and upcoming projects.

Contribute to process documentation and work instructions in support of new or ongoing activities.

Participate in training and meetings as required by supervisor or as needed to perform routine duties.


Applicant should have experience in a medium to large scale business in implementation, deployment and support of transport and/or IPVPN network technologies.  Knowledge of or experience of Transmission/Transport/IP provisioning is desirable.

The successful candidate is required to demonstrate knowledge and proven experience in one or more of the following areas:

DWDM provisioning, testing, and fault resolution.

SDH/SONET provisioning, testing and fault resolution.

Sound knowledge of Ethernet, SDH E1/E3 and SONET optical network OC-1 to OC-192 for access circuits is desirable.

MPLS, L2/L3 VPN, VPLS, Routing and Switching, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, HSRP, VRRP.
