Job Summary

The Vendor Management Office (VMO) is within the Strategic Planning & Transformation (SP&T) organization and collaborates with internal business partners to manage CenturyLink activities with software and services suppliers.  In an ever-changing industry, we help our stakeholders navigate business relationships and contracts, maximize the value of our agreements, ensure that current and future business needs are met, mitigate business risks, and align with financial objectives. 

The VMO is currently hiring a Senior IT Systems Analyst (“Software Analyst” or “SWA”) who will manage a multi-million dollar portfolio of software maintenance and subscription renewals, assess business-impacting decisions (i.e., software, financial, operational, service levels) for each transaction, implement VMO best practices, and participate in cross-functional teams.  Work assignments will include many vendor products, including major IT industry vendors. 

Job Description

Software Analyst (SWA)Manage the renewal process for a multi-million-dollar portfolio of ~200 software maintenance and subscription agreements, by partnering with SP&T technical teams and Procurement to align decisions (i.e., renew, change, cancel) with current and future business needs; achieve optimal terms and best practices for CenturyLink;  engage VMO peers to assess contract terms and software asset management implications.  Act as internal VMO project manager for vendor transactions, ensuring effective decision making and meet client’s timelines.  Perform financial analyses of assigned transactions (e.g., comparison of options and deal structures, budget impacts, accounting).  Provide recommendations to continue / cancel renewals of software maintenance and subscriptions, considering cost, value, and risks.  Assess and refine, as needed, internal processes and metrics to measure and document SWA team performance and results. Educate internal clients and new team members about the VMO processes for purchasing software and renewing software maintenance.  Work assignments will include a high volume of transactions and suppliers

Budget and Administration:  Support the VMO’s Senior Lead budget analyst in activities related to SP&T’s financial plan for software maintenance and expense, including monthly, quarterly and annual close activities; variance analyses; periodic forecast updates; data maintenance within the “VMO Checkbook” database.

Financial Operations:  Participate in financial processing for an assigned set of software related transactions, including purchase requisition creation, goods receipt, and invoicing in SAP. 

Leadership:  Communicate with internal clients (from subject experts to Executives).  Lead group projects and decisions to resolve issues efficiently.  Collaborate with VMO, Procurement and technical teams.  Navigate corporate organizations, processes and tools, while facing high-visibility and challenging deadlines.  Influence others to adopt best practices; automate, where appropriate; identify process improvement opportunities.

  • Preferred:  4-6 years of related experience
Bachelors or Equivalent
Masters or Equivalent in Business or Computer Science
